DSTR-Liquip Wagga – The Road Transport Specialists

Liquip Wagga is a division of Doug Sutherland Truck Repairs (DSTR), who have been at the forefront of heavy vehicle mechanical repairs and servicing in southern New South Wales for the past four decades.

Doug Sutherland, owner of DSTR, started this heavy vehicle mechanical repair facility and shop in 1980. With hard work, enthusiasm and determination, the business gradually grew over the proceeding years, employing and developing more staff as demand grew. Given the Riverina region is heavily road transport orientated, DSTR’s reputation for quality workmanship and service quickly spread far and wide, guaranteeing a strong and healthy operation that is still flourishing today.

DSTR specialises in 'all things related to road transport', particularly:

> Fuel Tanker Repairs
> Pumping and Metering Equipment Calibrations
> Major and minor truck servicing
> Tank truck fit-ups
It is not uncommon that on any day of the working week, multiple tankers can be found on site, receiving any number of key servicing undertakings that ultimately lead to their speedy return back into service. DSTR's dedicated team of project management staff and expert accredited mechanical labourers all work together to maximise efficiencies and ensure all work is completed to state legislative requirements. OH&S is paramount in our workplace and when it comes to ensuring what leaves our workshop we pride ourselves on it performing at or beyond the necessary standards and exact customer requirements.

Liquip Wagga Accredited Liquip Swift Installer and servicer

We're a proud Liquip parts distributor and installer

For more than 20 years DSTR has been working as an accredited Liquip partner.

“The experience we gained in the tanker repair industry through the 80s and 90s enabled us to develop a strong relationship with Liquip International, eventually leading to the arrangement being formalised in 2009 when DSTR was proudly appointed as a accredited Liquip Parts distributor and installer for the Riverina region, and formed a division inside the business known as Liquip Wagga Wagga (Liquip Wagga),” Doug says.

It was at this stage, according to Doug, the business was well staffed with employees that had extensive experience working on tankers, which laid a solid foundation for further growth.

“We simply applied the knowledge we’d previously gained; the facility was already here and we employed a number of spare parts interpreters to add to our highly skilled staff base,” Doug says.

Doug adds that investments were made in upskilling staff in industry specific qualifications, enabling the maintenance, installation and calibration of pumping and metering equipment, such as Liquip’s level gauging systems, to become a service offering. Doug appointed now long-term employee Andrew Uhr, to head up the Liquip Wagga division, and under Andrew’s supervision this arm of the business has gone from strength to strength. Andrew has been working for DSTR-Liquip Wagga for over 20 years, having previously spent 20 years working for Finemores Transport where he initially completed a diesel mechanic apprenticeship.

“When I commenced with Doug the business was starting to become heavily involved in tanker work, which suited me well because I had extensive experience with tankers from my previous employment with Finemores,” Andrew says.

It explains how DSTR has now become a true one-stop-shop for tanker operators in the region. From meter calibrations to making up fuel delivery hoses for the tankers – DSTR can pretty much do everything in house - and has the backing of Liquip. The company has been designing and installing road tanker pumping systems utilising Liquip parts and technologies for 20 years, and is adept in the new system installs such as the Liquip Swift Delivery System.
